Though I find your analysis interesting, it is incredibly strange to use Christianity to discard mystical ideas. I for one think that our soul is immortal regardless of whether we serve Jesus Christ or not. Furthermore, the realization of our soul is in fact a realization of our Godhood, as well as a path towards attaining self-liberation. It was given to us because we must understand our nature and that of the creator. But the Bible isn’t the only source of knowledge, it is just one vehicle. I think we have to understand ALL THE POSSIBLE VEHICLES if we are to understand our true nature.
Addendum: the soul cannot die. It is immutably what we are. And no one knows whether heaven and hell exists, so that is just a reasonable explanation of sorts. I for one can make sense of the reincarnation idea, since it logically states that we must keep coming back until we fully fulfill our path. Heaven and hell just seem like very blatant and unclear ends to our path here, irrespective of how we see other aspects of Christianity.
